The Gamer Wedding

laughing bride

When I asked Megan what color her dress was going to be, she told me it would be the color of sea glass. Leave it to a professional costumer to make my life difficult. For my purposes, we have decided that her wedding falls in the green category.

The Bride and Groom

At this point, you must be wondering, "So what makes this a gamer wedding?" Well, there are a few reasons. The bride and groom are serious gamers. So, gaming was worked into the text for their ceremony. PLUS, there was a live-game running at the reception. Players got to be superheroes or villains attending the wedding of two supers.

Here's a full view of Meg's dress. If I remember correctly, the dress was made by Megan's boss at the costume shop she works for in NYC.

Jewelry Details

This wedding isn't just green. It was really green and silver. The picture on the left shows my favorite details of Meg's accessories that day. I should also note that Meg's mother, sisters and nieces all wore green dresses & silver sandals.

Arcade on the Boardwalk

Meg's wedding took place in Cape May, NJ. The weather was perfect for a wedding on the boardwalk. The ceremony itself, actually took place on the patio of the arcade pictured on the left.

Dress Detail

The patio overlooked the beach. The procession came up onto the patio through stairs in the center.

Video Games

The ceremony was performed in front of the sliding glass doors leading into the arcade. The arcade was open, but the closest and noisiest machines were turned off.

Cupcakes

The reception was held a few blocks away at a bed & breakfast called the Ashley Rose. However, my favorite detail from the reception is the tower of cupcakes. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Megan and Sean had tiers of cupcakes. I still think this is a brilliant idea. The only drawback was that people didn't realize that it was the "wedding cake" but rather part of the buffet. So they helped themselves. It was such a laid back day the bride didn't care, so long as SHE got a cupcake.
