Review: This site has a nice selection of formal wear. Some good bridesmaid dresses as well as gowns. While the site says it goes from 14-28, some dresses appear available in 34. Prices seem to range from $50 to $300. |

Review: (From the site: "Individually designed bridal and evening gowns") Her custom made dresses are beautiful, and it seems like she'd be up
for something different. (Check out the purple velvet dress, with
tartan lining!) It appears that they're not taking orders at the moment
(as of 2/26/06), but check it out anyway. |

Review: This site lured
me in by claiming to have a selection of two piece wedding gowns. Two
piece gowns are a great way to get what you want, and in the right size
(How many of us have found a dress that fits on top, but is just too
long?) Unfortunately, their website really doesn't do a good job of
showing these two piece options. I'm sure they exist, but I recommend
seeking a store that carries this line. |

Review: (From the site: "-
woman by design - original designs for sizes 14 & up") Sexy dresses made to your measurements after you order. Prices seem to range from $200 to $1200. A number of the dresses are available in a wide variety of fabrics. The designers are plus sized themselves, which is always a good sign. |

Review: Even tho it says
these are Bridesmaids dresses, they don't HAVE to be just for
bridesmaids. They have a small selection, but an interesting array of
styles. Prices seem to range from $150 to $250. The size chart goes up
to 26, but they will make dresses to custom measurements. |

Review: Corsets for
women AND men. They also have corset dresses, but their FAQ admits that
you can't really sit down in one. (Not something I'd recommend on your
wedding day.) They will make full wedding gowns as well. According to
their website corset prices run from $300 to $600. |

Review: I've come across
this designer's booth at a number of Renaissance Faires. She offers a
variety of garb including cloaks, tops and bottoms for men, women and
children. They focus primarily on cloaks and custom work. Prices start
as low as $50 for some of the ready made items. The website doesn't
have a "shopping cart" but you can e-mail them to place an order. |

Review: Eden Bridals
offers bridesmaids dresses that are mix & match tops and bottoms.
The website lets you look at each top or bottom in the colors they are
available. The site is nice, but the downside is that you can't order
on-line. You can use a store locator to find a store that carries these
dresses. Pricing and availability may vary from store to store. |

Review: Beautiful
medieval and renaissance designs made to order. Plus they offer amazing
fairy wings, in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors. You need to
contact them to discuss the dress you are looking for, but fairy wings
can be purchased right off the site. Dress prices range from $1000 to
$2000. Wing prices range from $150 to $300. |

Review: Every time I go
to this site I find myself shopping. They carry really cool, plus size
clothing. They also have an amazing line of dresses for special
occasions. My absolute FAVORITE part of this site is that you can shop
by body type. There is a body shape calculator to help you determine
which category you fall into. Plus there is a detailed description of
each shape, which I found very helpful. Each item has a list of which
body shapes it works well with. |

Review: In you're
looking for inspiration, check out this site. Unfortunately, you can't
buy from them directly. I used their store locator and found they
aren't carried in my area at all. If you're having your dress custom
made, and are looking for design ideas, you should definitely check out
this site. |
Maggie Sottero

Available in too many places to list
|
Review: Maggie Sottero
has some amazing designs, she even had me thinking about a white dress!
Plus I found dresses that were available in colors other than white.
You can't buy from them directly, but it seems like her dresses are
carried EVERYWHERE. I played with the store locator and found at least
5 retailers for each zip code I put in. If you find something you love
on this website, there is a strong possibility that there is a retailer
near you. |

Review: Patterns to make
costumes from a variety of time periods. I felt their Medieval and
Renaissance selection was a little light, but they have much more for
designs from the 1700's through WWII. They also have pins, buckles and
buttons to go with the patterns. They will make many of the items they
offer for you, but you need to contact them for pricing. |

Review: The first
thought I had when I found this site was "SHINIES!" The second thought
I had was "Theatrical". I'm not normally a fan of sequins, but this
site made me reconsider. A number of the designs on this site are
inspired by ballet costumes.. Or they actually ARE ballet costumes.

Review: I love love LOVE
this site. If I hadn't chosen to go with a local seamstress, this site
was at the top of my list. My two favorites on the site are the black
dress from the movie Legend, and the white kimono with matching corset.
Everything is lovely, but the cyber geisha section really sets this
site apart. I also really like the detailed measurement form, with
pictures, to insure that she gets exactly what she needs to make your
dress or corset the right size. Prices range from $500 to $1200. |

Review: If you've ever
shopped in Hot Topic, it's likely that you've seen clothing from Lip
Service. Lip Service is just ONE of the labels this company offers.
Lots of cool stuff in vinyl with zippers, buckles and / or D-rings. If
you shop at Torrid, it's likely that you expect them to have plus sizes
too. The website does include plus sizes in the sizing chart -but I
can't find anything larger than a 2x. According to their FAQ the items
you see in Hot Topic (and I'm assuming Torrid as well) are exclusive to
that store. |

Review: This particular
site has a variety of dresses, jackets and jewelry -as well as a
variety of gift items. Their product line can be described simply as
witchy. They carry period inspired clothing and jewelry, like cloaks
and waistcoats. You'll also find flowing skirts and Asian prints. Some
items are available in sizes as large as 3x, but not all of them. Check
what sizes are available before you fall in love with something. Prices
are reasonable -dresses range fro $60 to $150 |

Review: This site seems
to be under construction. At the moment you'll find a variety of
corsets, and skirts to go with them. The other sections have yet to be
populated. (as of 5/26/06) Still what IS there is really nice. I love
the cyberpunk style corsets the most. There is also a corset that looks
like a suit vest. Corsets can be purchased ready made, or to your
measurements (for a bit extra). Basic prices seem to start at $250 and
go up to $450 or so. |

Review: This site was
one of the main inspirations for my gown. They have amazing, amazing
work, and it's gotten even better since I first discovered them in
2003. Unfortunately for me, I live in the US. Everything they make
reminds me of faeries in one way or another. I think it's the intricate
details on the gowns and jewelry, as well as the embroidered details .
Prices for gowns range from $3400 to $6500. |

Review: (From the site: "- Plus Size Gothic Glamour") A site dedicated
to the Voluptugoths. The selection is small, and a little less formal
than most wedding wear -but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take a
look. Sizes go from 14/16 to 5x. Prices range from $50 to $400
depending on the type of item you're looking at. |
Absolute Corsets

Review: There are some really gorgeous corsets on this site, in a wide variety of fabrics. Most of the ones I clicked on were in the $300 to $400 range. Corset sizes are waist measurements, but they use your other measurments as well. Corsets are made to order unless you choose something from their "In Stock" pages. |

Delicious Corsets

Review: Another fabulous corset site. What really stood out about these corsets was the fabric choices, and the applique work. Prices seem to start at $275, and go up from there depending on the options you choose. Their production schedule doesn't allow them much time to work on the entire outfit. However they will sell you the additional fabric you'd need to take to a dressmaker for additional pieces. |

Review: I found this site a little difficult to navigate, but that's really their only flaw. Keep surfing around the site, and bookmark pages you want to come back to later. Romantasy employs several different corset makers. Each one offers their own styles, and has their own separate price list. They also provide in store consulations, and are willing to travel a bit for a consultation as well. Consultation fees start at $75. The prices for corsets range from $200 to $700. Complete outfits are also avialble and prices get as high as $1000 for those. |
